"Uncertainty" seems to be the word of the day in most aspects of our lives. The Coronavirus has made difficult the mundane. What was once a normal activity is no longer within our reach. And so it is with planning and organizing the Loon Lake Property Owners (LLPOA) July fireworks program, currently scheduled for (but not set in stone) Friday, July 3.
Planning for the fireworks show starts early in the year. With the new social distancing rules, there is uncertainty in the market. There is also the possibility that all Fourth of July shows will be cancelled by our state government. Vendors will prioritize shows based on signed contracts.
As it stands, the Loon Lake show is scheduled for Friday, July 3. If we have the option for a July 4 show, we will take it. Since we hold a "private" fireworks show lit from the middle of the lake, it is permitted even with social distancing guidelines in place.
The latest updates will be posted here on the LLPOA website and on Nextdoor.com.
LLPOA would like to express our thanks to Barry and Mickie Smith who have kindly granted us the use of their personal 12'x40' dock, to be used for the 2020 show. We are always searching for other lake residents willing to provide a dock and host the set-up. Please remember: when viewing the show from a boat, please use caution during the lighting, and stay at least 300 feet from the dock during the show.
Local cancellation of the fireworks show is always possible as July weather conditions are sometimes unpredictable. The final decision rests with Fire Chief Mike Bucy in this matter.
The Annual Loon Lake Fireworks Show
is tentatively scheduled
for Friday, July 3, at 10 pm
(possibly moving to Saturday, July 4, at 10 pm).
